I'm a freelance journalist based in the United Kingdom.
I’m an award-winning features writer specialising in travel and human-interest stories. My work appears in The Times and Sunday Times, Financial Times, The Telegraph plus a number of magazines and broadcast outlets. I’m always up for a good maritime adventure.
I’ve written for most of the UK’s national newspapers, both as a travel journalist and on stories ranging from big-wave surfers to plastic pollution. I’m a regular contributor to The Times and Sunday Times, Financial Times, The Telegraph and The Guardian. Magazine bylines include National Geographic Traveller, Robb Report and Condé Nast Traveller plus a small shelf of specialist sailing titles. Broadcast credits includes BBC Radio, Times Radio and the occasional TV documentary. I'm also an experienced public speaker and panellist.
As well as winning awards for individual features, I was named Travel Writer of the Year in 2021 and Freelance Writer of the Year in 2020.
I write about:
• Travel. Especially journeys rooted in bigger ideas, adventure travel or everyman extreme activities. • Human interest. Interesting people doing interesting things, ordinary people doing extraordinary things. • Innovation. I’m interested in challenges and change. • The sea. On it, in it, under it, by it. I'm not fussy.
